History of CIL Paints

CIL paints has been a proud manufacturer of paints since 1927. CIL is a brand of PPG Architctural Coatings, Inc. and is sold in major retailers across Canada.

1927 – CIL paints are first manufactured in Canada.

1992 - CIL and Glidden introduce the first line of environmentally friendly no-VOC and low-VOC Paints.

1992 – CIL Paints are one of the first consumer brands to receive the Terra Choice Ecologo, certifying that products are certified “environmentally preferable” by Environment Canada.

1993 – ICI Paints introduces the Master Palette International colour system. With 6,134 colours, the Master Palette is the largest colour selection available in the paint industry.

1997 – 2012 – Named Vendor of the Year six times by leading retailers in Canada for sales service, product innovation

2002 – CIL Launches CIL Select with Teflon Surface Protector to provide the ultimate in surface protector

2003 – CIL launches CIL Smart³ – The Next Generation of Paints and Coatings. Smart3 products include:

• Magic White™ Ceiling Paint – formulated with disappearing white dye technology
• Any Where Primer – the ultimate interior/exterior problem- solver primer, formulated with Devcryl technology

2012 - CIL launches CIL Platinum 2N1, a paint and primer in one with no Volatile Organic Compounds

2012 - CIL launches CIL Premium, a No VOC paint that is tinted with low-VOC colourants... a virtually odourless paint that lets you move back into your room almost as soon as you're finished painting!

Wash & Wear Interior finishes – formulated with Ceramic Microsphere™ technology to provide 2X easier dirt and stain removal with long lasting resistance to scuffs and chipping on surfaces.
