HOW MUCH PAINT DO YOU NEED?

  • 1 gallon - one or two coats* in small spaces like a powder room,
    kid’s room or home office (5’ x 8’ x 12’)

  • 2 gallons - one or two coats* in a master bedroom,
    family room or average sized kitchen (12’ x 5’ x 12’)

  • 3 gallons - one or two coats* in a living room / dining
    room combo or family room (20’ x 25’ x 12’)

  • 1 gallon - one or two coats on an average sized ceiling

  • 2 gallons - one or two coats on a larger ceiling area.

* Number of coats achieved may vary depending on sheen and colour selected.

Total Room Perimeter
Measure around the base of each of the walls in the room and add all the lengths together. Be sure to include door and window areas.
Room Height
Measure the height of the tallest wall in the room.
Total Gable Length
Measure the length of any triangle gables that make up the roof of the house if they are also being painted.
Gable Height
Measure the height of any triangle gables that make up the roof of the house if they are also being painted.
Doors
Count the individual number of doors in the room that *will not* be painted. Count double doors twice.
Windows
Count the individual number of large and small windows around the outside of the house. Count multiple times for very large bay windows.
